About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Specialist to join our team. This role is pivotal in supporting environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and stakeholder engagement across a major infrastructure project.

To lead, plan, organise and control the environmental aspects of Projects including the development, implementation and control of project environmental plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to SHE Cultural Framework, Policies, Safety Essentials and Management System requirements and expectations
  • Develop and maintain awareness of SHE hazards and associated risks and demonstrates commitment to eliminate or minimise those risks
  • Understand and effectively undertake SHE accountabilities
  • Identify and implement where appropriate initiatives that identify the Project as a leader in Environmental practices
  • Help create and support a climate that encourages innovation and receptivity to environmental initiatives
  • Demonstrate daily personal behaviour that upholds LCPL values and contributes to the team effectiveness
  • Persist with improvement ideas, including building team member buy-in to ideas
  • Listen to team members improvement ideas and have informed opinions about their merit
  • Manage all day-to-day liaisons with the client in respect of environmental management
  • Liaise with managers and subcontractor organisations as required
  • Identify and obtain relevant approvals and licenses from relevant authorities and government
  • Evaluate compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements and all relevant Company and Group policies and processes
Requirements for Success
  • Tertiary qualification relevant to the field of operation of the position
  • At least 5 years construction experience in the related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and relationship skills
  • A broad knowledge of environmental legislation and requirements
  • Proficient computer skills in current software versions of word-processing, spreadsheet, database and e-mail
  • Industry and/or project induction in accordance with legislation
  • Task training or skills to suit specific project activities and their associated risks
  • A comprehensive understanding of safety and health legislation
