The Social Infrastructure and Citizen Services business unit is part of Downer Group, delivering critical thinking, building, maintenance and sustainment behind Australia and New Zealand's essential public assets, facilities and community services.

We run hospitals, manage client data centres, take asset management risk, and serve as a trusted advisor and partner to our New Zealand and Australian Defence Forces.

The Project

The Riverina Redevelopment Joint Venture is a partnership between CPB Contractors and Downer, undertaking major upgrades and replacement of existing infrastructure and facilities to support Defence capability for the next 30 years.

The proposed project involves a program of works across three Department of Defence establishments including:

- Albury Wodonga Military Area (including North, South & East Bandiana, Latchford Barracks, Wirlinga)

- Blamey Barracks (Kapooka) RAAF Base Wagga

The project will incorporate various elements including:

- Construction of new messing and living in accommodation

- Construction of new training facilities

- Refurbishment and upgrading of existing buildings Remedial works and upgrades to infrastructure services

Job Description

As an Environmental Advisor, you will be responsible for onsite environmental management and leading the development and coordination of risk review processes and Environmental Management Plans throughout the project delivery.

You will manage compliance registers and monitor regulatory requirements, provide technical advice on high-risk projects, and implement audit schedules to ensure compliance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering, Energy, Sustainability or related disciplines
  • 3-5 years' experience in construction, environmental management, regional/local government or similar
  • Experience on Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) rated projects, and qualifications as an Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional (ISAP) or ability to obtain
  • High level of Environmental legislative knowledge (state and / or national frameworks)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated time management and organisational skills
