Financial Operations Manager

As a Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial integrity of our operations. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will oversee day-to-day financial activities, support governance and risk management, and provide trusted financial advice to enable us to deliver on our strategic and community priorities.

Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing financial operations including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and cash flow management.
- Delivering accurate and timely month-end and year-end processes, including accruals, provisions, and reconciliations.
- Supporting preparation of annual financial statements and external audits.
- Maintaining registers for grants, contracts, and insurance while tracking obligations and compliance requirements.
- Reviewing and approving payroll journals, invoices, purchase orders, and funding payments.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant employment awards, tax obligations, and superannuation requirements.
- Contributing to the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and Board reporting.
- Supervising and mentoring junior finance staff.
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CA/CPA highly desirable).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of month-end/year-end processes.
- Proven ability to prepare financial statements and audit files.
- Excellent Excel skills and financial systems literacy (Xero proficiency highly desirable).
- Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring finance staff.
- High attention to detail, with excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and respect when working with Aboriginal people and communities.
