Job Title: HSE Specialist

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving top-notch health, safety and environmental outcomes across projects, warehouses and offices.

  • Provide direct support to the National HSE Manager and play a key role in driving world-class HSE outcomes across projects, warehouses and offices.
  • Support local and domestic project HSE teams in site-based and non-site-based greenfield and brownfield project roles - some short-term/ad-hoc domestic travel required.
  • Have a forward-thinking approach to HSE in execution with a willingness to drive improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in pre-contract HSE reviews and submissions for opportunities.
  • Reviewing and monitoring subcontractors across sites.
  • Preparing various management plans, risk assessments (HAZID, SWMS) and overall preparation of project HSE management systems as part of project phases.
  • Supporting project teams and project advisors in completing and reviewing incident investigations.
  • Providing technical input and coaching for project team members during development of task-specific risk assessments (HAZID, construction methodologies, SWMS).
  • Delivering location-specific induction content for employees and subcontractors.
  • Developing and delivering HSE training and awareness programs and providing in-field coaching.
  • Managing the HSE hazard and corrective action tracking register.
  • Conducting employee training GAP analysis and positional needs assessment.
  • Implementing and monitoring psychosocial management framework and programs.
Key Qualifications and Skills
  • 10+ years experience in construction, manufacturing, oil and gas sectors with experience in structural mechanical and piping environments.
  • Diploma OHS qualification.
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant statutory regulations.
  • HSE practices including hazard identification, risk assessment and control, HSE induction/education practices.
  • Incident investigation and reporting experience.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong interpersonal communication skills are essential.
Requirements
  • A strong communicator who can engage positively with stakeholders, senior management representatives and project employees.
  • Ability to work and build credibility across the business, up to and including senior management level.
