Job Overview

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to fill the position of Clinical Coordinator at our institution. The successful candidate will have a passion for delivering exceptional donor experiences and be able to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Sunday, including weekends and afternoon shifts.

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide clinical oversight and guide other team members in the blood collection process. This includes greeting and interviewing potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate, completing routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests, setting up machines and collections equipment, inserting and removing needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets, managing adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and physical assistance, and monitoring donors post-donation and assisting them to rebook for their next donation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and interview potential donors to determine their eligibility for donation.
  • Provide clinical oversight and guidance to team members during the blood collection process.
  • Complete regular health checks on donors.
  • Set up and operate equipment used in the blood collection process.
  • Insert and remove needles safely to collect blood components.
  • Manage any adverse reactions experienced by donors.
  • Monitor donors after donation and assist them with scheduling their next appointment.
Requirements
  • Maintain a high level of physical fitness due to frequent standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Frequently stand and walk to set up and pack down equipment.
  • Hold a current nursing registration and relevant qualifications.
