Mobile Forensic Mental Health Service (MobileFMHS)

Forensicare runs a Mobile Forensic Mental Health Service (MobileFMHS) which provides care for prisoners needing more intensive mental health services. The service collaborates with mental health, health, and program services within the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) and the broader prison system.

About the Role

The Clinical Coordinator (CC) will oversee triage assessment and coordination of mental health care for MobileFMHS clients within MRC. Responsibilities include liaising with mental health services during client transitions, providing mental health consultation, and offering clinical leadership, supervision, and support to MRC-based nursing staff.

The position is based at MRC Ravenhall; occasional work at other sites may be required.

Your primary functions will be :
  1. Triaging all referrals
  2. Prioritizing waitlist accordingly
  3. Participating in client transition and discharge
  4. Providing clinical leadership to nursing staff
  5. Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
Skills and experience
  • Registered Nurse
  • Postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric Nursing or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of psychiatric nursing experience
  • Thorough knowledge of current psychiatric nursing practices and legislation
  • Experience in independently triaging referrals
  • Ability to assess prisoners with mental impairments
  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions, counseling, and therapeutic programs
