Job Title: Intelligence Specialist

The role of the Intelligence Specialist is to provide timely and accurate intelligence and advisory services to support informed decision-making within a detention centre environment.

This includes working closely with operational staff, multidisciplinary teams, and internal and external stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with human rights principles and supports community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Conduct intelligence assessments on security and intelligence matters in collaboration with management.
  • Manage data collection and analysis to produce intelligence products supporting detention centre operations.
  • Collate and evaluate information to inform incident investigations and other activities.
  • Liaise with external agencies to share intelligence and coordinate responses.
  • Assist in contingency exercises and operational searches of the Centre.
  • Review and record client correspondence to maintain safety and security.
  • Meet reporting deadlines and perform tasks according to departmental policy and procedures.

Effective communication and sensitivity are essential when interacting with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
