Job Overview

The Australian Government Department of Home Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer to join our Sponsor Monitoring Unit in Queensland. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a high-profile and politically sensitive migration program, where you will play a critical part in detecting, deterring and disrupting potential migration fraud and foreign worker exploitation.

About the Role

As a Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for conducting investigations and performing visa compliance activities. You will apply and interpret legislation, policy, and procedures relating to sponsor obligations and visa pre-decision verification. Your duties will include undertaking site visits, educating business sponsors regarding their obligations, and conducting investigative interviews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations and perform other visa compliance activities
  • Undertake site visits, educate business sponsors, and conduct investigative interviews
  • Manage a compliance monitoring caseload with a high degree of independence
  • Assess evidentiary material, prepare routine and complex documentation, and make recommendations on administrative outcomes
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to disclose information and progress caseloads

Requirements

  • Australian citizenship
  • Meet Border Force Officer qualifications, including medical and fitness testing
  • Uniformed presence
  • Possession of a valid driver's licence (preferable)

Salary and Benefits

This role offers an attractive remuneration package, including salary, superannuation benefits, and flexible working conditions. The estimated salary for this position is approximately $78,500 - $85,300 per annum, plus superannuation benefits. The Department may also provide relocation assistance to eligible employees required to relocate.
