Seeking an accomplished Engineering Manager to spearhead our Sustaining Software team. As a seasoned leader, you will be responsible for managing and guiding a distributed team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a global team of software engineers
  • Recruit, mentor, coach, and provide career guidance to team members
  • Develop and implement strategies for shift scheduling, performance metrics, and training programs
  • Oversee the delivery of bug fixes, patches, and technical solutions across various technologies including Ubuntu Server, OpenStack, Ceph, Kubernetes, Juju & MAAS
  • Represent the company in customer interactions, setting high standards for professionalism and expertise
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders to drive project success
  • Advocate for modern software development best practices and foster a healthy engineering culture
  • Participate in internal and external events with up to 10% global travel

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in software delivery with C, C++, Go, Java, Python, or similar programming languages
  • Strong knowledge and passion for software development principles
  • Leadership experience demonstrating ability to prioritize complex problem resolution and bug fixes
  • Experience with version control systems such as git
  • Proficiency in debugging tools like gdb, crash, or other
  • Demonstrated commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code quality
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Experience with Linux, preferably Ubuntu
  • Understanding of Open Source and Open Source Business Models
  • Interest and deep experience in three or more of the following areas: Ubuntu Linux - kernel or userspace, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, QEMU/KVM, LXC/LXD, Python, Go, C, Postgresql, Mongo, Debian packaging
