Job Overview

This role is part of a collaborative team within the Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Unit.

The CVE Unit works in collaboration with specialist units, government entities, and third-party providers to provide interventions for individuals at risk of violent extremism.

As a member of this team, you will work collaboratively with stakeholders to advance the CVE Unit's strategic priorities.

  • Enhance community resilience to violent extremism.
  • Support diversion of individuals at risk of violent extremism when possible.
  • Establish a coordinated intervention structure to identify and support individuals deemed at risk of radicalisation to violent extremism.
  • Develop capacity of Government and non-Government agencies to deliver CVE identification and intervention activities.
  • Develop prevention, preparedness, and response arrangements for terrorism threats in Victoria.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing policy and project briefs, reports, and plans.
  • Building awareness of broader CVE policy and legislative frameworks to respond strategically to environmental changes.
  • Consulting, collaborating, and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting in development of policy, strategy, and business case submissions to capture effective interventions.
  • Providing advice to senior management using sound judgement.
  • Providing assessment of projects, strategies, and policies involving complex research and analysis.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Tertiary degree in relevant field.
  • Proven experience in policy development, legislation, submissions, and/or strategic documents.
  • Ability to develop and deliver complex projects, implementing project outcomes effectively.
  • Highly developed analytical and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide advice to senior management on policy, practice, and strategy.
  • Strong communication and diplomacy skills, with ability to build positive stakeholder relationships.
  • Strategic problem-solving ability.
