Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to join our team as an Infection Prevention and Control Lead.

The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and upholding infection prevention and sterilisation protocols within the clinical setting, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and uphold site-specific policies and standard operating procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Review and update existing policies to align with national, state and local guidelines.
  • Act as a resource for the dental team, facilitating the implementation of evidence-based practices to prevent infections.
  • Maintain accurate records, permits and licenses to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Provide infection prevention and sterilisation education and training for all personnel to enhance their knowledge and skills.
  • Monitor compliance with policies through observations, checklists and other methods to identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain effective relationships within the organisation and with external agencies to promote a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with Infection Control and sterilisation practices to prevent the spread of infections.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience in a hospital, primary health care or similar environment.
  • Current unrestricted registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
  • Possession of a Sterilising Certificate III or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Post graduate certificate or diploma in Infection Control.
  • Knowledge of Infection Control principles, including the ASNZ Standard 4187 and 4815 (retired).
  • Desirable: Member of a professional body for sterilisation (e.g, SRACA).

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve common goals.
  • Proficiency in managing and maintaining compliance and current control standards to ensure a safe working environment.
