Wastewater Treatment Facility Maintenance Specialist

The wastewater treatment plant operator plays a crucial role in maintaining the health of our communities by ensuring the efficient and safe treatment of wastewater.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Operate process pumps, motors, blowers, and other equipment to maintain optimal treatment performance
- Collect and analyze samples of sewage, effluents, and sludge to monitor treatment effectiveness
- Perform laboratory tests, including sludge settling, centrifuge, and chlorine residual tests to ensure compliance with regulations
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning treatment plant structures and equipment
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Hands-on experience in a wastewater treatment facility, with varying levels of certification (Class A - WW, Class B - WW, or Class C - WW)
In addition to the qualifications above, you must also possess:
- A valid Florida driver's license
- A valid active Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Class A, Class B, or Class C Wastewater Plant Operator's license
- The ability to work planned and unplanned overtime, as well as standby and call-out duties on a rotational basis
- The ability to perform emergency duties during natural disasters
