Your culinary journey starts with us.

As a kitchen professional, you will develop your skills and knowledge to support young children in their growth and development. You will work alongside our chef to create menus that are both nutritious and delicious for the children and their caregivers, as well as be part of the learning experience when they help you prepare meals, gather fresh ingredients from the garden, and learn about the food they are consuming.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with educators and teachers to integrate food into the learning process and take satisfaction in seeing how children respond to new and exciting flavors.

In addition, you will work in high-quality environments that are well-resourced for children and teams, supporting them to grow and thrive, and develop a love for food.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the preparation of nutritious, appealing, and suitable meals and snacks for the children within the centre.
  • Ensuring each meal respects individual requirements regarding medical conditions, dietary preferences and cultural considerations.
  • Maintaining the health and wellbeing of the children.
  • BUILDING STRONG RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE CENTRE CHEF, CHILDREN, EDUCATORS, FAMILIES AND THE ENTIRE CENTRE COMMUNITY.
  • Ensuring best practice food safety and hygienic standards are consistently upheld.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A Food Handling Certificate is required.
  • A Food Safety Supervisor Certificate is desirable.
  • A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or working towards it is desirable.
  • An awareness of personal responsibilities under current Child Protection Laws.
  • A current Working with Children's Check or state equivalent.
