Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Security Operations Specialist to join our 24x7 SOC team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for monitoring client networks and endpoints for security events and alerts.

Your primary focus will be on analysis of security events from multiple sources, including Security Information and Event Management tools, network intrusion systems, and Host-based Intrusion Prevention tools.

You will also be responsible for monitoring and assessing emerging threats and vulnerabilities to the environment, ensuring those requiring action are addressed. Additionally, you will contribute to Security Incident Management, provide technical administration support for security software and hardware, and assist with contractual and stakeholder reporting.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Adept understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems;
  • Experience with reviewing raw log files, data correlation, and analysis (i.e. Firewall, network, IDS, system logs);
  • Experience in Incident management and response, with relevant experience operating in an Australian Government environment;
  • Experience in reviewing threat data from various sources;

In addition, you will require:

  • An appropriate degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience/combined education, with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with assignment;
  • Current ICT Security qualifications or working towards qualifications such as GSEC, GCIA, or CompTIA Security+.
