About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced medical professional to join our team as a Clinical Advisor - Healthcare Excellence. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the quality and safety of healthcare services in NSW.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide medical expertise in infection prevention and control and infectious diseases to support the Chief ICP and the work of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) and Healthcare Associated Infection (HAI) team.
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with external stakeholders, particularly at a Local Health District and Specialty Network level, to facilitate a culture of safety and the measurement of the quality of care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to improve healthcare quality and safety standards in NSW.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Patient Safety, to support the work of the IPAC and HAI team.
Requirements
  • Registered medical practitioner qualified as Specialists under the Staff Specialists (State) Award and with extensive specialist clinical experience related to infection prevention and control and infectious diseases or clinical microbiology.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, influencing, and motivational skills that demonstrate a capacity to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment and demonstrated capacity to be a high-profile advocate for the improvement of healthcare quality and safety standards in NSW.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of clinical systems and health services, including understanding of human and other factors impacting on quality and safety.
  • High level of understanding of public health policy issues, including evidence-based practice, healthcare quality, healthcare service evaluation, healthcare funding, and resource allocation.
  • Proven ability to analyze and evaluate quantitative and qualitative data and research evidence from a range of sources to make recommendations and inform decision-making that has long-term impacts.
