  • You'll have the chance to showcase your people skills. Being an Employment Specialist is first and foremost about connection, so be prepared to leave a lasting impression everywhere you go.
  • Your efforts will be towards advocating for people with disabilities and connecting them with local businesses. It's up to you to ensure the ball is rolling when it comes to these partnerships.

A day in the life of an Employment Specialist is different every day. You might be on the road, chasing meaningful leads and relationships, and closing deals with businesses of all sizes.

The balance of your work may change as you find your stride, but initially, it will look like this:

  • 75% creating and sourcing new employment opportunities for job seekers.
  • 7.5% directly supporting employers to become disability confident, grow their knowledge, and increase the diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility of their workplaces.
  • 7.5% collaborating, motivating, planning, and sharing ideas, skills, and experience with the team.
  • 10% maintaining and completing records, claims, and other important documentation.

  • Administration: Intermediate computer literacy, phone, record keeping skills.
  • Purpose: Aligning with our mission - enabling people, communities, and places to overcome disadvantage and aspire to reach their greatest potential.
