Job Overview

The Intake Coordinator and Student Counsellor is a key role in supporting the wellbeing of students. This position plays a vital part in conducting initial intake assessments, managing referrals, and providing confidential short to medium-term counselling.

About the Role
  • Full-time | 12-month parental leave contract
  • Closing Date: Prior to commencement

This role requires a highly skilled and compassionate professional with strong counselling expertise and the ability to manage sensitive situations with care, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting initial intake assessments and managing referrals
  • Providing confidential short to medium-term counselling
  • Conducting risk assessments and developing action plans where required
  • Offering consultation and support to teaching staff
  • Liaising with external mental health professionals and agencies
About You

As an experienced counsellor, you bring:

  • Demonstrated counselling and assessment skills with young people and families
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with students, parents, staff, and external professionals
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a calm and professional manner
  • A collaborative and team-focused approach
  • A strong commitment to child safety and wellbeing
  • Hold a Current Working With Children's Check
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Psychologist – Full registration with AHPRA (endorsement in educational/developmental, clinical, or counselling psychology desirable); OR
  • Social Worker – Eligibility for membership of AASW; OR
  • Counsellor – Level 3/4 membership of ACA, clinical PACFA membership, or equivalent
