Job Title: Genetic Counsellor

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Genetic Counsellor to join our multidisciplinary team at the Parkville Familial Cancer Centre and Adult Genetics department.

Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified professional to provide genetic counselling to families in Familial cancer clinics and adult genetics clinics at various hospitals. The successful candidate will work closely with other team members, including genetic counsellors, genetic nurses, geneticists, intake assistants, discipline specific clinical staff, data managers, administrative staff and laboratory staff.

The appointee will be responsible for interpreting and explaining the results of genetic analysis, providing appropriate follow-up and support to patients and their families, and managing new referrals, clinical follow up and files reviews within set Key Performance Indicators.

The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will have Board Eligibility in Genetic Counselling (MHGSA status) and an understanding of the current genetic and psychosocial issues relating to adult genetics and familial cancer.
