Insurance and Grants Officer


Job Description:

This role involves coordinating the renewal and acquisition of insurance coverage to protect Council interests efficiently and cost-effectively. The Insurance and Grants Officer will prepare documentation and liaise with internal and external stakeholders on personal injury and major asset claims.

The Insurance and Grants Officer will serve as a trusted advisor on insurance matters, ensuring compliance with legislation, standards, policies, and procedures. This will involve monitoring insurance trends and providing valuable insights to enhance risk management awareness across Council.

Key responsibilities include coordinating insurance coverage renewals, preparing documentation for personal injury and major asset claims, and serving as a trusted advisor on insurance matters.

The Insurance and Grants Officer will also provide advice and assistance to all departments to ensure the accurate completion of grant and subsidy funding applications along with any associated reporting requirements including the external auditing of certain returns where required.


Requirements:
  • A good level of knowledge and experience in insurance advisory services aligned with relevant procedures and regulations.
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles, particularly in relation to grant acquittals and subsidy returns.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly adapt to corporate systems.
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to handle competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Highly effective people and relationship management skills.
