About the Role

The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Infrastructure Division as an Assistant Director. This is a key leadership role that will play a critical part in shaping the future of Defence's estate and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance on the development and delivery of major capital facilities and infrastructure projects across the Defence estate.
  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex projects and programs, including program and project management, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and alignment with Government policies and reforms.
  • Manage and mitigate risks associated with contamination, PFAS, and other environmental issues.
  • Provide expert advice on engineering and technical matters, including policy development, design reviews, and governance and assurance activities.

The Infrastructure Division is responsible for managing the development, maintenance, and disposal of the Defence estate, one of the largest real estate portfolios in Australia. We provide facilities and infrastructure in support of the activities of over 90,000 personnel across all states and territories in Australia.
