Job Opportunity

The Aboriginal Health Worker is a critical role within our organization, responsible for providing culturally appropriate support to Aboriginal women during their stay at the hospital.

  • This includes antenatal and postnatal care, as well as support with birthing experiences and outcomes.

The successful candidate will have experience working effectively with Aboriginal women, families and young children, and will have a Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care Practice or be willing to attain one.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide culturally appropriate antenatal and postnatal support to Aboriginal women.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members to ensure provision of culturally appropriate healthcare.
  • Develop relationships with local Aboriginal community and health professionals to improve birthing experiences and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Female and of Aboriginal descent.
  • Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care Practice or willing to attain.
  • Knowledge of and affinity with the local Aboriginal community.
  • Ability to work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members.
