Job Overview:

The Student Wellbeing Services Leader plays a pivotal role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of students within an educational institution. This position oversees the wellbeing services provided to students, manages a team of professionals and collaborates with other departments to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement student wellbeing strategies and programs through a team of qualified professionals.
  • Foster positive relationships and networks within and external to the institution.
  • Provide authoritative mental health information, advice and direction to stakeholders across all areas of the institution.
  • Structure the operations of the wellbeing teams to support the achievement of institutional objectives and report on the outcomes of agreed targets.
  • Manage the development and delivery of psychosocial, emotional intelligence, mental health literacy, team building and resilience programs to students.

Requirements:

  • Post-graduate qualifications in psychology or counselling, or related mental health discipline.
  • Full registration with the relevant professional body, such as AHPRA or AASW.
  • Must be currently working towards or registered as a Clinical Supervisor.
  • A strong background in delivering professional wellbeing support, particularly within student settings, and a deep understanding of the mental health challenges commonly faced by students throughout the post-secondary education lifecycle, grounded in ethical practice, with a solid grasp of case management processes relevant to student wellbeing services.
