Job Title

A strategic leader is required to oversee the management of Defence System Specialists. This position involves providing direction and guidance to a team responsible for ensuring the integrity and configuration of aeronautical and technical data within the National Airways System.

  • The successful candidate will manage allocated resources, set work priorities, oversee workflows and provide redundancy to ensure the system's performance and safety.
  • They will also lead and provide expertise to the development and implementation of strategies that optimise the performance and safety of the NAS.
  • Evaluation of business outcomes will be necessary to ensure continuous improvement in delivery of adaptation data.

About Our Team:

The team of specialists are based in Melbourne Airport and are responsible for managing the integrity and configuration of the Civil and Military Air Traffic System.

Advanced analytical techniques are applied to optimise the system's performance and safety by manipulating aeronautical and technical data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading the team of Defence personnel and being the main point of contact for all Defence-specific work.
  • Working on all NAS data and ensuring the integrity and configuration of aeronautical and technical data.
  • Representing Defence on specific issues at departmental, interdepartmental and industry forums associated with adaptation data.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Current or recent experience in maintaining or operating computer-based air traffic control systems.
  • Highly developed technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Extensive aviation experience and comprehensive technical knowledge of ATC data production and testing systems.
  • Ability to interpret and process complex geographical and non-geographical aeronautical data and documentation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ATM system data files, relational databases and experience manipulating them.
  • Understanding of the Defence environment and ability to build and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
