Job Summary:

Northerlies Beach Bar and Grill, a premier dining destination in tropical Airlie Beach, Queensland, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef to join our experienced kitchen team.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Chef who can lead, develop, and recruit for our team, with a strong focus on kitchen management, menu development, and staff supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the kitchen team, ensuring high-quality food preparation, presentation, and service.
  • Develop and implement menu plans, incorporating seasonal fresh local produce and maintaining a high level of culinary excellence.
  • Assist the Executive Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, including stock ordering, inventory management, and food safety protocols.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and productive team culture, promoting a growth mindset and encouraging staff to continually learn and improve.
  • Monitor and control food costs, ensuring efficient use of resources and maintaining a high level of profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Develop and implement training programs for kitchen staff, focusing on food preparation techniques, cooking procedures, and food safety protocols.

Requirements:

  • Hold a qualification of an Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or at least 3 years of relevant experience in a senior kitchen management role.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with the Executive Chef and other kitchen staff.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, maintaining a calm and composed demeanor under pressure.
