Water Treatment Plant Operator Job Opportunity

The role of a Water Treatment Plant Operator is crucial in ensuring the daily operation, maintenance, and housekeeping of water treatment facilities. Ideal candidates will possess experience working on-site in a water treatment facility and hold a valid Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Class A, Class B, or Class C Drinking Water Operator's license.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations
  • Operate pumps, motors, and other water treatment plant equipment to maintain optimal performance levels.
  • Utilize automotive and light equipment for various tasks and operations.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests, including chlorine residual tests, to ensure water quality standards are met.
  • Set parameters for the water treatment process to achieve efficient and effective results.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent educational attainment.
  • Five years of documented hands-on experience working on-site in a water treatment facility for Class A certification.
  • Three years of documented hands-on experience working on-site in a water treatment facility for Class B certification.
  • One year of documented hands-on experience working on-site in a water treatment facility for Class C certification.
  • A valid Florida Driver's license.
  • A valid active Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Class A, Class B, or Class C Drinking Water Operator's license.
Working Conditions and Environment
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures and humidity levels.
  • Be physically capable of wearing and utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work planned and unplanned overtime, standby, and call-out duties on a rotational basis.
