Ecological Consultant Role

We are seeking an experienced ecological consultant to join our team in Sydney. As a key member of our Ecology & Biodiversity team, you will work across New South Wales and Australia.

Job Overview:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ecologist to contribute to the delivery of environmental projects while working collaboratively with colleagues and clients.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of NSW flora and fauna to assist senior ecologists providing expert advice to clients both in office and in field.
  • Participate in field survey programs to collect various ecological data.
  • Support interpretation and application of environmental legislation to projects across different sectors under the guidance of more senior staff.
  • Assist in preparing tenders and proposals, including development of project plans.
  • Support the team in studies, analyses, interpretations, conclusions, and decisions and prepare reports outlining the findings of these studies, including but not limited to biodiversity assessment reports in accordance with the biodiversity assessment method.
  • Travel to remote areas, including interstate, to conduct field survey programs.

Key Qualifications:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources or in another related field.
  • Working knowledge of NSW flora and fauna.
  • Scientific or consulting report writing and computer skills.
  • Desirable: 1-2+ years' experience in an ecological role in the environmental consulting sector or an equivalent role in Government, including undertaking ecological surveys and report production.
  • Experience in flora and fauna field surveys and monitoring programs.
  • Flora and fauna identification skills.
  • Knowledge of and training in the biodiversity assessment method.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Project management experience in relation to client management.
