Ecologist Opportunity in Sydney

We are seeking a recently graduated or early-career ecologist to join our team in Sydney.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a globally recognized environmental consultancy, providing high-quality services to clients across various sectors.

You will be working with the Ecology & Biodiversity team across New South Wales and Australia, assisting senior ecologists in providing advice to clients, both in office and in field.

  • Apply your knowledge of NSW flora and fauna to assist senior ecologists providing advice to clients
  • Participate in field survey programs to collect ecological data
  • Support interpretation and application of environmental legislation to projects across different sectors
  • Assist in preparing tenders and proposals, including development of project plans
  • Support the team in studies, analyses, interpretations, conclusions, and decisions, and prepare reports outlining findings
Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with senior ecologists to provide advice to clients on NSW flora and fauna
  • Conduct field surveys to collect ecological data
  • Support the team in applying environmental legislation to projects
  • Assist in preparing tenders and proposals for clients
  • Prepare reports outlining findings from studies, analyses, and interpretations
Requirements
  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of NSW flora and fauna
  • Scientific or consulting report writing and computer skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable Qualifications
  • 1-2 years' experience in an ecological role in the environmental consulting sector or an equivalent role in Government
  • Experience in flora and fauna field surveys and monitoring programs
  • Flora and fauna identification skills
  • Knowledge of and training in the Biodiversity Assessment Method
  • Project management experience in relation to client management and budget control
