Urban Forestry Director Role Overview

This strategic leadership position involves guiding the development and implementation of policies, plans, and projects related to the management of public urban forests.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior leaders within City and Environment Directorate (CED) to achieve key objectives and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising a team to deliver high-quality results in urban forestry planning and project delivery.
  • Providing technical advice on tree-related matters and assessing tree-related claims.
  • Contributing to the development of best practice urban design options to protect and enhance Canberra's urban forest.
  • Supporting the Senior Director in implementing programs to deliver actions and outcomes in the Urban Forest Strategy.

For this role, we are seeking a highly skilled professional with expertise in forestry, urban forestry, landscape architecture or urban park management. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and communication skills, and be able to inspire and positively influence team and individual outcomes.
