As a Correctional Counsellor, you will contribute to community safety by providing welfare assistance and rehabilitation services to offenders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer assessments to offenders, analyse results and maintain accurate records.
  • Stay up-to-date with contemporary offender rehabilitation research, practices, legislation, policy and procedures.
  • Participate in professional supervision and team meetings.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide consultancy services and referrals.
  • Develop and deliver assessment, welfare and rehabilitation services to individuals.
  • Contribute to case planning and management activities, including reports and case notes.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate records for relevant authorities.
  • Provide advice on classification and planning review processes.
  • Ensure the accuracy and currency of records in integrated management systems.
  • Maintain the safety and security of self and others, as well as QCS property and information.
  • Provide timely information to relevant areas for sentencing and releasing authorities.
  • Liaise with external service providers to optimise offender community integration and safety.
  • Provide advice on re-integration and parole processes.
  • Counsel offenders about offending behaviours and consequences.
