Therapeutic Specialist Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Therapeutic Specialist to provide expert support to children and young people in out-of-home care.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of trauma-informed care principles and be able to develop and review tailored assessments and intervention plans to meet the unique needs of each child.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide therapeutic oversight and targeted interventions for children and young people in out-of-home care.
  • Develop and review trauma-informed care assessments and intervention plans.
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure seamless collaboration and communication among stakeholders.
  • Equip children and young people with essential safety and resilience skills to enhance their well-being and stability.
  • Promote a culture of respect, humility, and empowerment within the organization and community.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all relevant legislative requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • A tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in clinical, counselling, or mental health roles, or in trauma-informed settings.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
  • Expertise in developing strong therapeutic relationships and working effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ensuring timely completion of tasks and projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of evidence-informed practices for children in out-of-home care, trauma-specific healing, and attachment-based interventions.
