About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Placement Manager to join our team at The University of Queensland. As a key member of our clinical education team, you will be responsible for managing and developing new and existing student placements, with a focus on clinical psychology and clinical neuropsychology placements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the selection of students into our programs and ongoing evaluation of practitioner development.
  • Assist with the orientation of new students into our programs, including assisting students to obtain probationary registration and preparing Supervised Practice Plan documentation.
  • Manage existing Clinical Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology placement sites, including student matching, liaison with field and sessional supervisors, evaluation, and enhancement of experience for all stakeholders.
  • Liaise and negotiate with the Consortium, Queensland Health, and Clinical Educators regarding development of new placements and allocation of placement sites.
  • Maintain accurate and current records regarding student progress, deeds/placement agreements, risk assessments, etc.
About You
  • Postgraduate qualifications in clinical psychology or clinical neuropsychology.
  • A minimum of two years' professional experience working as a psychologist, preferably in a clinical psychology or clinical neuropsychology context.
  • Familiarity with the field of clinical psychology or clinical neuropsychology, including relevant organisations and practitioners.
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and liaise with psychologists and psychologists in training within the University and with external bodies.
  • High-level organisational and coordinating skills with demonstrated ability to work independently, to exercise good judgement, to set priorities, meet deadlines, to initiate and follow up actions, and to take responsibility for decisions within existing guidelines.
  • Knowledge of current evidence-based approaches in Psychology practice, clinical education issues, and accreditation requirements as related to professional training in Psychology.
  • Good computer skills, with the ability to work effectively with technology systems and master software applications.
  • Capacity to make new contacts and build effective working relationships with key personnel in relevant external organisations to establish new placement opportunities.

  • The successful candidate will also be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including a criminal check, education check, AHPRA registration, and mandatory immunisations.
