Eye Health Nurse Coordinator

This role is responsible for providing clinical nursing leadership in Ophthalmic Nursing, aiming to achieve optimal patient outcomes at a hospital in Broken Hill.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Providing clinical assessment and coordination of outpatients with Ophthalmology Consultants.
  • Ensuring safe delivery of high-quality patient-centered care, adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Developing and delivering education and training resources for nursing staff, providing direct support and supervision.
  • Liaising with the Nurse Unit Manager and team to ensure effective communication regarding patient and clinic management.
  • Supporting the Ophthalmology Registrar pre- and post-ophthalmic surgery.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • At least three years postgraduate nursing experience, including two years in Ophthalmic Nursing.
  • Postgraduate tertiary qualifications in Ophthalmic Nursing or working towards same.
  • Demonstrated evidence of contribution to clinical practice development.
  • High-level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven organisational and time management skills.
