Cloud Gaming Reliability Expert

Sony Interactive Entertainment is seeking a Cloud Gaming Reliability Engineer to join its Future Technology Group. As a key member of the Site Reliability Engineering team, you will play a vital role in delivering a great cloud gaming experience to customers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for influencing design and operational decisions towards overall stability, focusing on three main areas: ownership of production, production code quality, and deployments. You will work collaboratively with engineers across different levels to drive reliability improvements and reduce toil.

As a Cloud Gaming Reliability Engineer, you will lead technical discussions, create high-level designs for new products and platforms, mentor junior SRE staff, and contribute to code improvements. You will also implement automation to reduce ongoing toil and participate in incident response and post-mortem activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead team technical discussions around ongoing improvements in reliability and scalability
  • Create high-level designs for new products and platforms
  • Mentor junior SRE staff and enable them for success
  • Lead incident response and post-mortem activities within your assigned service team
  • Work with other engineers in a cross-functional team to prioritize reliability improvements to address technical debt and toil
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5+ years of working experience in software development and/or Linux systems administration
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Available to be scheduled in on-call rotation
Desirable Skills and Knowledge:
  • Proficient as a Linux Production Systems Engineer with experience managing large-scale web services infrastructure
  • Development experience in one or more of the following programming languages: Python, Bash, Go, Java, C++, or Rust
  • Experience with at least 3 of the following topics: distributed data storage at scale, NoSQL at scale, data aggregation technologies, scaling and running traditional RDBMS, monitoring and alerting, Kubernetes, and/or AWS
