About the Role
We are seeking an experienced interpreter to join our team in providing high-quality interpreting services to healthcare providers within the South Western Sydney Local Health District.
Your primary responsibility will be to interpret medical/healthcare dialogues for a diverse range of clients. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments.
The successful candidate will possess excellent time management skills and the ability to perform under pressure. Additionally, they will have a strong understanding of cultural factors that impact healthcare situations and be able to convey this information accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
- To provide interpreting services in various health care settings, including public hospitals and community health facilities.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
- Capacity to interpret in medical settings with sensitivity and discretion.
- Ability to identify and convey social and cultural factors in the healthcare situation.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to perform well under pressure.
- Ability to identify ethical dilemmas and to deal with them in compliance with AUSIT Code of Ethics.
- Willingness to travel and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Demonstrated experience or willingness to undertake telephone and video interpreting and to undertake small non-complex translations.
