About the Position

The primary role of an Automation Specialist is to provide technical expertise in the design, development, and implementation of automated systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop automated systems for process instrumentation, control panels, motor controls, power monitoring, PLCs, OITs/HMIs, SCADA/DCS Systems, industrial networking, IT infrastructure, radio/cellular telemetry, reporting, and data collection.
  • Provide on-site support for municipal clients including instrumentation configuration, installation assistance, and control system start-up/testing.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot instrumentation and control system issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5+ years' experience as a Controls Engineer performing design, programming, installation, and startup tasks.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley Logix platform PLC's and SCADA software development (FactoryTalk View SE, Ignition, Wonderware, VTSCADA, or iFix).
  • Strong networking/computer skills, literacy, and proficiency are expected.
  • Excellent oral, written, and digital communication skills.
  • Effective organizational skills for productive tasks and time management that results in effective and efficient work.
  • Regular self-development (learning) activities to stay technically sharp.
