Job Summary

Crawford & Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Branch Manager/Senior External Claims Adjuster to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing a team of adjusters and overseeing the claims process from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Claims Examination: Examine claims forms, policies, and endorsements to determine coverage and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Investigation and Analysis: Investigate claims by interviewing claimants and witnesses, obtaining official reports, and inspecting physical damage to determine liability and extent of loss.
  • Loss Reserves and Reporting: Set loss reserves and update them as necessary, and prepare reports summarizing claim information and outcomes.
  • Settlement and Dispute Resolution: Settle claims after determining insurance carrier's liability and client's instructions, and pursue subrogation when appropriate.
  • Cost Control and Case Load Management: Control claim costs and maintain an expected case load to ensure efficient and effective claims handling.
  • Litigation and Evidence Presentation: Recommend litigation when appropriate and present evidence at legal proceedings by producing reports and other documents as evidence.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Maintain company reputation and insurance product integrity by complying with federal and state regulations and service standards.
  • Professional Development and Business Development: Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education and conduct business development by calling on local businesses to solicit new business or maintain existing business.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration: Assist less experienced adjusters with claims handling and work cooperatively with others to accomplish common team goals and objectives.
