Job Overview

At BDO, we are seeking an experienced Financial Services Risk Advisor to join our team. This role offers a great variety of work, autonomy, client contact, and direct partner interaction and coaching.

This is a client-facing consulting role utilizing your extensive experience in delivering various types of internal audits covering operational, financial, and performance internal audits together with health checks, and deep dives.

  • Deliver a range of internal audits, business risk assurance, and business process improvement projects in accordance with BDO's methodologies and procedures.
  • Recommend policy, procedural, process, system, and control improvements where identified.
  • Assist in preparing proposals/scoping documents in response to client requests, preparing reports for projects undertaken, and assisting with the development of new methodologies and service offerings.
  • Collaborate with the team to assist with scheduling of work across the practice and contribute to the development of junior staff in a mentoring capacity.
  • Maintain relationships with clients and work with partners and senior members of the team to create future business opportunities.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Solid experience in internal audit or related risk management or similar role gained within professional services or consulting firm.
  • An accounting or business-related degree and any other relevant certifications or qualifications.
  • A strong working knowledge and understanding of basic internal audit and risk management practices and standards (IIA and ISO 31000).
  • Knowledge and experience in undertaking internal audits, risk assessments, risk management framework reviews, etc.
  • Experience in internal auditing of basic financial processes and controls as well as internal auditing of operational processes.
  • Exposure to Enterprise Resource Management systems (SAP, Oracle, TechOne, etc.) will be highly regarded.
