Community Engagement Officer

The Queensland Police Service is seeking an individual to fill the role of Community Engagement Officer. This position plays a crucial part in fostering strong relationships between the community and law enforcement.

This is an opportunity for someone who values building trust and understanding between diverse groups, with a particular focus on First Nations communities.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional communication skills and be able to effectively convey information about First Nations customs and protocols to police officers and community members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with local communities, prioritizing First Nations groups.
  • Provide expert advice on cultural sensitivities to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with QPS members to identify opportunities for enhanced community engagement and develop culturally appropriate strategies.
  • Assist community members in accessing policing services and facilitate referrals to other support services as needed.
  • Engage positively with multicultural and multifaith groups to build community-based initiatives and programs.
Requirements:
  • A valid 'C' class driver's licence or ability to acquire one.
  • Wear a uniform and adhere to the QPS dress code.
  • Work a set roster, including weekend and shift work to attend community events.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of First Nations cultures and be able to communicate effectively with community members.
