Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Delay Associate to join our team at Maxim Recruitment Ltd. As a Delay Associate, you will work with our team of experts to identify and analyze delays in construction projects, providing expert opinion and helping clients navigate complex arbitrations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct forensic investigations of project delays
  • Prepare prospective and retrospective delay analyses for a wide range of construction and engineering projects
  • Prepare written reports for negotiation and formal dispute resolution processes
  • Assist in the preparation of extension of time claims on behalf of employers, main contractors, and sub-contractors
  • Work independently or with client teams to carry out 'live' planning assistance
  • Prepare programmes for new construction projects and monitor and resequence existing programmes
  • Review technical and non-technical documentation
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2+ years of good engineering or planning experience
  • Good working knowledge of standard forms of contract, including NEC and JCT & FIDIC
  • Demonstrable understanding of contract and law within the construction industry, with a particular understanding of matters relating to planning and delay
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills
  • Ability to work and organize multiple commissions
  • Excellent knowledge of construction techniques
  • Detailed understanding of different methods of delay analysis and the ability to apply those methodologies
  • Ability to communicate highly technical material to non-technical audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills, creative problem-solving skills, and ability to work as part of a team
Qualifications/Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering Commercial Management, or similar Construction degree
  • Master's degree in relevant construction specialism highly desirable, especially construction law LLM or similar
  • Chartered or progress towards Chartership actively underway
