Operational Technology Leadership Role

This is a key leadership position within the Observing Systems and Operations Program providing specialist advice, direction and guidance on the observing infrastructure architecture and equipment.

The role involves managing a diverse team of specialists responsible for the development and design of engineering and technological solutions, incorporating level three support, on a range of technologies spanning from radars to rainfall stations, drifting buoys to dedicated observations and satellites to ships at sea so as to meet business needs.

The successful applicant will have extensive experience in engineering planning and delivery. They will also have advanced stakeholder management capabilities, a high level of management skill together with the ability to distil significant issues from complex material so as to develop workable solutions to problems.

The position will work closely with related teams in Infrastructure Development and the National Operations of the Observing Systems and Operations Program, along with other business areas of the organisation, to develop these capabilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialist advice, direction and guidance on observing infrastructure architecture and equipment
  • Managing a diverse team of specialists responsible for the development and design of engineering and technological solutions
  • Ensuring level three support on a range of technologies including radars, rainfall stations, drifting buoys, dedicated observations and satellites
  • Developing workable solutions to complex problems through effective stakeholder management and technical expertise

The successful applicant will be an experienced leader with strong technical skills and excellent communication abilities. They will be able to distil complex information into actionable insights and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to drive business outcomes.
