Role Overview

The Acute Surgical Unit Registrar plays a pivotal role in the timely assessment of patients with acute surgical conditions. As part of a dynamic team, they manage referrals from various sources and contribute to delivering optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage referrals from Emergency Department, inpatient wards, other hospitals, and general practitioners.
  • Broaden surgical skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Contribute to delivering optimal patient outcomes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, with current general registration (or eligibility) with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Proven experience in acute surgical settings, with strong clinical decision-making, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to adapt to change and maintain productive working relationships with diverse healthcare teams.
  • Sound knowledge of quality improvement principles, patient rights, risk management, and public hospital administrative practices.
