Job Title: Senior Conservation Officer

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Conservation Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in conservation and environmental management, with excellent leadership and communication skills.

The role involves supervising field officers and contractors to implement works and maintenance programs, as well as collaborating with the Team Leader Field Operations to undertake a diverse range of tasks to enhance and preserve the natural and cultural heritage of our parks.

This includes leading teams in the field to maintain and construct park facilities, protect cultural sites, undertake pest and weed control programs, and assist with fire management activities such as mowing, slashing, grading, hazard reduction burns, and wildfire response.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Able to work with statutory obligations related to conservation of natural, Aboriginal, and cultural heritage and resources
  • Ability to supervise and carry out all duties safely in accordance with WH&S requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in the maintenance/construction of general facilities and grounds
  • Ability to implement planned field and operational activities, including pest animal and plant control
  • Demonstrated administrative and organisational skills, including ability to use the Agency's financial and asset management systems
  • Relevant WorkCover Certification and experience for operating machinery, plant, and equipment
  • Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent, MR Drivers Licence, and ability to drive 4wd vehicles
