Job Summary

This position is pivotal in enhancing mental health outcomes for individuals at-risk of suicide in prison.

About the Role
  • Deliver person-centred psychosocial assessments, treatments, and brief interventions to support consumers who have experienced suicidal ideation or behaviour.
  • Develop individual safety plans, risk assessments, and formulate the drivers of suicidality.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to foster a collaborative approach and influence systemic responses to people experiencing suicidality in prison.

The ideal candidate will have experience in providing psychosocial / psychological treatment and brief interventions to address drivers of suicidality. Ongoing training and supervision will be provided.

Key Responsibilities
  1. To conduct thorough assessments of consumers' needs, identifying potential risks and developing tailored intervention strategies.
  2. To provide evidence-based treatments, promoting recovery and reducing harm.
  3. To work closely with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
Requirements
  • A strong background in psychology or a related field, with expertise in treating individuals at-risk of suicide.
  • Proven experience in delivering psychosocial interventions, including risk assessments and formulation.
  • An ability to work collaboratively, building strong relationships with colleagues and external partners.
