Leadership Role

A talented and passionate leader is required to provide cultural leadership and guidance in delivering high-quality services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

This role presents an opportunity to influence organisational practice, strengthen cultural capability, and ensure our programs and services are inclusive, respectful, and responsive to First Nations peoples.

The successful candidate will contribute to organisational initiatives, provide cultural knowledge and supervision, and lead the continuous improvement of our cultural clinical capabilities. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development, implementation, and review of First Nations initiatives and workplans in partnership with leadership teams.
  • Representing our organisation in relevant First Nations networks, including attending National Indigenous Network (RAIN) meetings and chairing groups as required.
  • Providing cultural supervision to First Nations staff, and cultural case consultation and support to non-First Nations staff to build cultural capability.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of cultural fitness training across the organisation, contributing to training content and evaluating its effectiveness.
  • Analysing and interpreting client and program data to ensure evidence-based practices that improve outcomes for First Nations clients.
  • Reviewing our practice and supervision materials to ensure they are evidence-informed, inclusive, and culturally appropriate.

To thrive in this role, you are a visionary leader who is deeply committed to improving outcomes for First Nations peoples. You bring both lived experience as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and professional expertise in facilitating cultural knowledge, practice development, and workforce capability building.

Key qualifications and skills include:

  • Lived experience as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
  • Relevant undergraduate qualifications in Behavioural Science, Psychology, Counselling, or Social Work.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, cultures, and service needs.
  • Experience communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both written and verbally.
  • Strong skills in building positive and respectful relationships, cultural capability leadership, and project delivery.
