About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Economic Development Officer to join our team at Everi Pty. As an Economic Development Officer, you will play a key role in identifying and facilitating investment opportunities that drive growth and development in our region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with businesses and stakeholders to promote economic growth and development.
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract new investments and support existing businesses.
  • Provide timely and accurate information and advice to the organisation, Council, and the community on business and economic development matters.
  • Coordinate investment meetings between Council staff and interested businesses.
  • Work cooperatively with the business sector to improve services and benefits to the community, business, and visitors.
  • Form and maintain partnerships related to economic development with Council's regulatory services, other internal, community and stakeholder groups, and other government and non-government agencies.
  • Support local business networks and business development initiatives as directed.
  • Encourage local business to actively participate in community events and activities.
  • Provide support and assistance in the delivery of projects and initiatives as described in the Economic Development Strategy.
  • Attend to administrative matters pertaining to relevant projects including maintaining quantitative and qualitative records.
Key Performance Indicators
  • Provision of professional advice in accordance with relevant legislation and recognised industry standards.
  • All assigned tasks completed professionally and on time and in line with Council policies and procedures.
  • Regular and systematic performance reporting to the Manager Economic and Community Development, evidenced through the completion of projects within agreed timeframes and budget.
  • High level of confidentiality maintained.
  • High level of customer service evidenced.
  • High level of participation and commitment to team outcomes.
  • All liaisons carried out in a professional manner being a positive ambassador for Mount Isa City Council.
  • Consistently meets corporate obligations.
  • Evidence of a program of continuous improvement.
  • Evidence of a focus on safety.
  • Develops, promotes, and complies with Council policies and procedures.
  • Conduct a minimum of two meet the buyer sessions between industry/Council (key proponents) and supply chain representatives (Promoting local business opportunities).
  • Development of an Investment prospectus.
  • Deliver/facilitate two grants writing workshops.
  • Produce six bi-monthly activity reports outlining industry development opportunities across the six industry pillars as identified through the Transitioning Mount Isa Economy works.
  • Attend a minimum of six Commerce Northwest meetings as an observer sharing industry learnings and assisting with business growth and report accordingly.
  • Host a minimum of six meetings with Regional Development Australia (RDA) regional representatives to share and gather industry learnings assisting with business growth and report accordingly.
