
Neurological Rehabilitation Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in helping individuals with neurological deficits or acquired brain injury to regain their skills and independence.
Key Responsibilities- Work within a specialist clinical area as an autonomous professional bringing skills and knowledge in neurological rehabilitation, with supervision from a more senior OT for complex cases.
- Manage and prioritise a caseload of service users with complex mental/physical health needs and/or challenging behaviour, with supervision from a senior OT.
- Complete the OT process using evidence-based, service-user-centred principles and clinical reasoning to assess, formulate a treatment plan, implement and evaluate intervention, with supervision for complex cases.
- Address occupational performance and skill deficits enabling service users in self-maintenance, productivity, education and leisure.
- Develop programmes of care, ensure handover of programmes to rehabilitation support workers or therapy assistants, monitor progress and modify treatment to measure effectiveness within the neurobehavioral model.
- Carry out risk assessments and ensure these are regularly reviewed and communicated with the team.
- Assess for, issue and refer to outside agencies for appropriate equipment, ensuring adequate training for staff, service users and families with all risk assessments in place.
- Plan, implement and evaluate goal-directed group interventions.
- Provide intervention and advice on social and lifestyle needs, including referrals to other agencies and services.
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Registered with the HCPC
- Practice placement qualification or willingness to undertake within the first year
- Minimum of 18 months post-registration experience including inpatient or community rehabilitation, plus a further 6 months prequalification experience in a suitable role
- Experience of working with service users with neurological deficits or acquired brain injury
- Experience of specialist interventions used in neurological rehabilitation (e.g., cognitive rehabilitation)
