Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team, working closely with internal and external professionals, family members, and service users.

  • To provide occupational therapy input within the BIRT neurobehavioral model to service users with acquired brain injury (ABI), promoting independence and supporting social and emotional needs.
  • To manage and prioritize a caseload of service users with complex mental/physical health needs and/or challenging behavior, ensuring adequate supervision and support from senior therapists.
  • To complete the OT process using evidence-based principles and clinical reasoning, assessing, formulating treatment plans, implementing interventions, and evaluating progress.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. To work as an autonomous professional, bringing skills and knowledge in neurological rehabilitation, with support and supervision from more senior OTs for complex cases.
  2. To develop programmes of care, ensuring adequate handover of programmes to rehabilitation support workers or therapy assistants, monitoring through data gathering, evaluating, and modifying treatment to measure progress.
  3. To carry out detailed risk assessments, regularly reviewing and updating them, and communicating effectively with the team.

About You:

  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registered with the HCPC.
  • Practice placement qualification or willingness to undertake this qualification within the first year.
  • Minimum of 18 months post-registration experience, including inpatient or community rehabilitation, plus a further 6 months pre-qualification experience in a suitable role.
  • Experience of working with service users with neurological deficits or acquired brain injury.
