Legal Support Role

  • The Paralegal position supports lawyers in various aspects of file management and document preparation.
  • Drafting routine documents, collecting relevant information for matters, and liaising with clients are key responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer incoming telephone calls as necessary.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with clients through effective communication and professionalism.
  • Prepare legal documents and correspondence for review by lawyers.
  • Type correspondence and other documents from lawyers' dictation.
  • Verify and edit documentation for accuracy and clarity.
  • Compile disclosure documents and conduct simple research tasks.
  • Coordinate requests between multiple parties involved in a matter.
  • Handle confidential information professionally and consistently with legal policies.
  • Record and scan documents into FilePro as needed.
  • Update client data in FilePro regularly.
  • Perform filing, scanning, and photocopying tasks as required.
  • Organize client hard copy files according to the firm's procedures.
  • Monitor online court lists regularly.
  • Check lawyers' calendars in Outlook daily and assist with preparation for consultations and attendances.
  • Assist with Outside Clerk duties when necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong grammar and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of Family Court procedures and regulations.
  • Resourceful research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent education.
  • A minimum of four years' experience in Family Law.
  • Well-groomed and well-spoken individual.
  • Advanced skills in FilePro software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, eCourts, and Landgate for searches.
