Heavy Plant Technician - Level 1

The role of the Heavy Plant Technician is to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repairs and fault finding on a range of heavy plant equipment. This includes but is not limited to earth moving equipment, container handling equipment, mining equipment and marine equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing scheduled maintenance, including routine servicing and inspections.
  • Identifying and rectifying faults on heavy plant equipment.
  • Repairing and replacing faulty components on heavy plant equipment.
  • Carrying out PM schedules in compliance with site requirements.
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in an efficient and timely manner.
Requirements:
  • Australian or recognized mechanical trade qualification.
  • Minimum completion of year 10.
  • Disconnect Reconnect restricted electrical license.
  • Forklift operator's license.
  • Elevated work platform license.
  • Knowledge of the operation of heavy plant machinery and its components.
  • Ability to diagnose and rectify complex faults on heavy plant equipment.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years post apprenticeship experience: specializing in heavy plant maintenance, repairs and fault finding.
