Job Description:

The Head of Learning Diversity is a leadership role that oversees the Learning Diversity Team and all Learning Diversity Department Services. The position requires a collaborative approach with the Learning and Teaching Team to ensure the needs of diverse learners are met.

This role involves leading staff in continuous improvement in learning and teaching for diverse learners, collaborating with the Deputy Principal Learning and Teaching, and supporting staff in delivering inclusive, contemporary learning opportunities.

The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated capacity for proactive educational leadership of students with diverse learning needs, highly developed skills in leading staff, commitment to Catholic Education, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide proactive educational leadership for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Lead staff in continuous improvement in learning and teaching for diverse learners.
  • Collaborate with the Deputy Principal Learning and Teaching to sustain focus on whole-school learning.
  • Support staff in delivering inclusive, contemporary learning opportunities.
  • Lead the Learning Diversity Team and related services to meet student needs.
  • Engage with families and external agencies to support student participation and progress.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated capacity for proactive educational leadership of students with diverse learning needs.
  • Highly developed skills in leading staff in continuous improvement in learning and teaching, particularly for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Commitment to Catholic Education and understanding of charism and spiritual tradition in an order-owned Catholic school.
  • Knowledge of contemporary educational research, issues, trends, practices and policies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop productive relationships with students, staff and parents regarding student needs.
  • Discretion and confidentiality in dealings with individuals and groups.
  • Commitment to a learning community and the ability to work with all members of the community to enhance learning and teaching.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning.
  • Experience as a secondary school teacher, with desirable experience as a special education teacher/leader in a secondary context.
  • Demonstrated expertise in data analysis, testing interpretation and monitoring student progress.
